Wire Saw Operator Jobs

We are hiring diamond wire saw operators. Big reinforced concrete sections, bridge piers, wall openings, foundations, plant bases and rock, cut with large wire saw rigs on civil, infrastructure and industrial jobs.

If you have run a wire saw and you understand wire tension, pulley set up, slurry control and what a pinched wire does, we want to talk to you. Wall saw and core drilling operators who want to move onto the wire are welcome too. We cross train.

DeconCut is Perfect Group's specialist industrial cutting business. We take the cuts other contractors walk away from: sections too big or too heavily reinforced for a normal saw, plant where flame cutting is not allowed, confined and remote spaces, and jobs where the cut sequence has to be engineered and signed off before anyone starts.

What the job is

• Setting up wire saw rigs: machine anchoring, pulley and guide wheel layout, wire routing and tension.
• Planning the cut with the engineer: core holes, stitch drilling, cut order, and where the block goes when it lets go.
• Running the saw and watching the wire: speed, tension and water, and stopping before a problem becomes a snapped wire.
• Slurry capture and containment so nothing goes into stormwater.
• Working with riggers and crane crews to remove cut blocks safely.
• Keeping the machine, wire and pulleys in good order and logging every cut.

What we look for

Tell us what you have actually done. If you are strong on most of this and keen on the rest, still apply.

• Wire saw experience on reinforced concrete. Wall saw or core drilling operators wanting to step up are also considered.
• White Card and a driver licence.
• Working at Heights, EWP, Confined Space, dogging or rigging tickets all help.
• Comfortable reading a cut plan and a temporary works drawing.
• Happy to travel and work away for weeks at a time on the bigger jobs.
• Fit, careful and patient. Wire sawing rewards people who do not rush.

What it pays

Pay depends on experience and tickets. Tell us what you are on and we will be straight with you. Travel work pays more, and there is interstate work for people who want it.

The work goes where the structures are: tunnels, bridges, power stations, mines, refineries and industrial plant up and down the East Coast and interstate, so expect travel and time away on the bigger jobs.
