Cold Cutting Jobs, UHP Abrasive Water Jet

  • Cold cutting technician, UHP water jet
  • Oil, gas, LNG and industrial plant
  • No flame, no sparks, no hot work
  • AU work rights required
Apply now, takes 2 minutes

We are hiring cold cutting technicians. Ultra high pressure abrasive water jet cutting of steel and concrete where flame cutting is not allowed: live and recently live plant, tanks and vessels, hazardous areas, and anywhere the material must not see heat.

The point of cold cutting is that it works without a hot work permit and without sparks. That makes the permit, the isolation and the gas test as important as the cut. If you have run UHP water jetting on refineries, LNG, chemical plants or mine sites, we want to hear from you.

DeconCut is Perfect Group's specialist industrial cutting business. We take the cuts other contractors walk away from: sections too big or too heavily reinforced for a normal saw, plant where flame cutting is not allowed, confined and remote spaces, and jobs where the cut sequence has to be engineered and signed off before anyone starts.

Fill in the form below and someone will ring you back within one business day. It takes about two minutes. Attach a CV if you have one handy, or reply to the confirmation email with it.

    • Recording each cut: material, thickness, method and time.
    • Supporting the cutting engineer on trial cuts and method statements.

    What we look for

Tell us what you have actually done. If you are strong on most of this and keen on the rest, still apply.

    • White Card and a driver licence.

    What it pays

Pay depends on experience and tickets. Tell us what you are on and we will be straight with you. Travel work pays more, and there is interstate work for people who want it.

    Other names for this job

Companies label this role differently and so do candidates. If your last job was called cold cutting technician, water jet cutter, abrasive water jet operator, UHP cutting technician, high pressure water jet cutting, hot work free cutting, cold cutting operator, and the work matches what is above, this is the same job. We hire on what you have done, not on the title.

What we are like to work for

DeconCut is new, and that is the honest pitch. You would be joining at the start of a specialist business that sits inside a group that already has the safety system, the certifications, the plant and the people. We are building the crews now and we want operators who will help us run serious cutting plant properly. The people who get in early are the ones who will run the crews as it grows.

    Work rights

You need the right to work in Australia. We do not sponsor visas and we do not charge anyone a fee to apply or to be placed, ever. If someone asks you for money to get a job with us, it is not us. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.

    What happens after you apply

    • You get an email straight away confirming we have your application.
    • Someone rings you within one business day, on the mobile number you give us.
    • If you did not attach a CV, reply to that confirmation email with it. It is the fastest way to get in front of us.
    • We keep your details on file. Even if there is nothing today, we come back to people when the right job lands.

    Where the job is

Our yards are at 23 Aranda Street, Slacks Creek in Brisbane and 2C Factory Street, Granville in Sydney. The work goes where the structures are: tunnels, bridges, power stations, mines, refineries and industrial plant up and down the East Coast and interstate, so expect travel and time away on the bigger jobs.

Read about the work itself on our service page. We are also hiring: Diamond Wire Saw Operator, Tunnel and TBM Cutting Technician, Heavy Steel and Industrial Cutting Technician, Shutdown and Decommissioning Cutting Technician, Hydrodemolition Operator, High Hazard and Remote Cutting Technician, Cutting Engineer.
