Cutting Engineering & Decommissioning Methodologies
The methodology is the product. The cut is the proof.
Before any major cut is made, someone has to answer the hard questions. What holds the structure up while the cut proceeds? Where does the load go when the section comes free? What does the crane need, what does the permit allow, and what happens if the wire jams at two thirds depth? DeconCut answers those questions in writing, before mobilisation.
What's included
- Cutting methodologies and sequence plans the client's engineer can review and approve.
- Evaluation of cutting options against programme, permits, access and cost: wire, wall saw, UHP water jet, hydrodemolition or mechanical.
- Temporary works and load path assessment coordinated with the project engineer.
- Rigging, lift and removal sequencing sized to the cranage that actually exists on site.
- Waste stream, slurry and water treatment planning to state EPA requirements.
- Constructability reviews during tender and early contractor involvement.

Why methodology first
Most cutting is bought as a rate: three saw operators quote dollars per hour and the cheapest one wins.
That works for slab and wall sawing. It fails on the structures we cut, because the risk is not in the cutting time, it is in the engineering around it. A cut sequence that ignores the load path fails expensively and publicly.
Engaging DeconCut at methodology stage means the cut is designed once, priced accurately and executed without surprises. It is also cheaper: the most expensive cutting problem is the one discovered after the shutdown has started.
DeconCut acknowledges the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Isander people as Traditional Custodians of the country on which we live and work. We pay our respects to the Traditional Custodians and Elders past, present and future, and honour their connection to the land and ongoing contribution to society.
