Diamond wire sawing for heavy industry
NewcastleHunterPort of Newcastle wire sawing
Diamond wire sawing for the Hunter's heavy industry, port and rail. Sections a wall saw cannot loop, cut with the engineering done first.
Wire sawing in Newcastle and the Hunter
Newcastle's industrial base is built from the structures wire sawing exists for. Coal loader foundations, conveyor plinths, rail bridges, wharf structures, heavy machine bases and the aluminium and steel works of the lower Hunter. They are thick, they are heavily reinforced, and when they have to come out or be modified, a wall saw runs out of blade before the job is done.
Diamond wire does not have that limit. The wire loops the whole section and pulls through it. What sets the size of cut we can quote is how much wire the rig stores. Our flagship rig is a Hilti 30 kW twin motor electric wire saw, run off a minimum 80 kVA generator and rated for heavily reinforced concrete, masonry, stone and steel, wet or dry and partly submerged.
What we wire saw in the Hunter
- Coal chain infrastructure: loader foundations, conveyor plinths and transfer towers
- Port and wharf structures, including partly submerged cuts
- Rail bridges, culverts and headstocks on the Hunter line
- Heavy industrial foundations and machine bases during plant upgrades and decommissioning
- Power station and substation structures
- Thick slabs and cores on commercial and institutional sites

Experience we bring to Newcastle
DeconCut is the specialist cutting arm of Perfect Group, and Perfect Group crews have wire sawed across New South Wales infrastructure for over a decade. Rail work for John Holland on More Trains, More Services. An 800 mm retaining wall sectioned into seven panels at Hornsby. Structural columns at Crown Sydney.
Newcastle jobs are run from our Sydney base at Granville, with the plant trucked up the M1. We do not claim work in the Hunter that we have not done. We do bring the crews, the rig and the method that the region's structures call for.
How we deliver it in Newcastle
We start with the structure, not the saw. Send us the drawings, or tell us what you have. We assess the section, the reinforcement, the access, the load path and what happens to the piece once it is cut. Then we give you a cut sequence, the temporary works it needs and a price for the whole method, not a rate per square metre.
Crews cover Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, the Port and the wider Hunter from Granville. We do not quote a production rate until we have cut your material. Nobody publishes one for a 30 kW wire saw in reinforced concrete and we will not guess.
If it is a slab saw job, a few penetrations or general concrete cutting, that is Perfect Concrete Care and we will point you there. We do not do residential. DeconCut is for the big cut.
Wire sawing elsewhere
The same crews and the same rig, wherever the structure is.
